IRAN POLITICIANS CALL FOR NUCLEAR OPERATIONS TO RESUME

Ooopsadaisy. The US Senate recently voted to restore the Iran Sanctions Act for another 10 years. This pissed off the Iran government.

So what have Iranians just called for?

In response to the United States Congress's decision to extend its sanctions on Tehran, Iranian parliamentarians are pushing to resume the nation's nuclear program.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, criticized what he called the "policy of openness" of President Hassan Rohani on the nuclear issue. "The West is not committed to a nuclear agreement signed by Iranian officials," he said.

"Although there were negotiations on the removal of sanctions," he later complained, "the US Congress extended them on the grounds that the extension is of previous resolutions and do not constitute new resolutions. To me, there is no difference between new sanctions and extending the validity of old sanctions."
